Taxpayer-Funded PBS Stations Caught Working with China on Chinese Propaganda Film PBS affiliates receiving millions of dollars in federal funds every year
Several taxpayer-funded PBS stations have been caught working with a Chinese agent to produce a pro-China propaganda film for the ruling Communist Party. The PBS affiliates receive millions of dollars in federal funding every year. However, the stations are airing a pro-Beijing documentary produced in conjunction with CGTN, a Chinese-government controlled media outlet.CGTN is registered as a foreign agent with the Department of Justice.
The film, entitled “Voices from the Frontline: China’s War on Poverty,” does not disclose CGTN’s links to the Chinese Communist Party. The film’s producer, Robert Lawrence Kuhn, also has ties to Chinese officials and the government’s foreign propaganda wing, State Council Information Office – a detail which is also not disclosed.
