Jewish Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has put out a new campaign ad—in Somali.
Frey is seeking a third term as mayor of the city. In the video, he says he wants to “speak directly to the Somali community” of Minneapolis about Donald Trump’s travel ban, and to wish them Eid Mubarak.
Frey is facing a challenge from Minnesota Democratic State Senator Omar Fateh, who is a Muslim and the son of Somali parents.
Fateh is running on a radical left-wing platform that includes so-called “sanctuary policies,” rent controls and criminal-justice reform.
Fateh has said that Frey, who famously wept at George Floyd’s funeral, is “too conservative.”
